Notesnook Mobile v3.4.14 is live, and it is one of our biggest mobile updates in a while. Notesnook now speaks your language, with the entire app translated into 11 languages, and Android gets a brand new Pinned Notes widget that puts your most important notes right on your home screen. On top of that, this release fixes a long list of issues across the editor, search, theming, and widgets.
Notesnook in your language
Notesnook is now fully localized. Until now, the app was only available in English. Starting with this release, you can use Notesnook in:
- English
- German (Deutsch)
- Spanish (Español)
- French (Français)
- Italian (Italiano)
- Dutch (Nederlands)
- Polish (Polski)
- Portuguese, Brazil (Português)
- Russian (Русский)
- Turkish (Türkçe)
- Ukrainian (Українська)
On first launch, Notesnook picks up your device's language automatically. If you would rather use a different one, head over to Settings > Behavior > Language and choose the language you prefer. The change applies across the whole app right away, including the editor, settings, dialogs, and reminders. Dates and reminder times are also formatted according to the language you select.
Pinned Notes widget for Android
One of our longest standing feature requests is finally here. The new Pinned Notes widget brings all of your pinned notes to your Android home screen in a single scrollable list.
- Open any note in one tap: Tapping a note in the widget takes you straight into the editor with that note open.
- Always up to date: The widget refreshes whenever you pin or unpin a note, edit a pinned note, or when a sync completes.
To add it, long press on your home screen, open Widgets, and look for Pinned Notes under Notesnook.
Improvements
Link URLs are validated before saving: The link popup in the editor now checks the URL before inserting or updating a link. If the field is empty or does not contain a valid URL, you will see a clear error instead of ending up with a broken link in your note.
Toasts no longer hide behind the keyboard: Messages shown while you are writing, such as the login prompt when inserting an image while logged out, used to appear behind the keyboard and the editor toolbar. Toasts now position themselves above both so you never miss them.
Bug Fixes
New notes no longer overwrite the previous note: After creating a note using the "Create a new note" app shortcut on Android, clearing the app from recents, and using the shortcut again, the new content could overwrite the previous note instead of creating a new one. The editor state is now properly restored on app launch so every new note is saved as its own note.
Landscape mode respects safe areas: On both iOS and Android, parts of the editor and the side menu could end up under the notch or system bars when the device was rotated to landscape. Insets are now applied correctly in landscape mode.
Search results open at the right match: Tapping a matched snippet in search results could skip the match or fail to scroll to it. The editor now scrolls to the exact match you tapped, even if the note is already open.
Editing links works reliably: The "Open" and "Copy" options now stay visible when the cursor is at the end of a link, "Edit link" selects the full link correctly, and the link toolbar no longer hangs on external URLs.
Dark mode and system theme switches no longer conflict: Toggling dark mode while "Use system theme" was enabled could cause your theme to reset after reloading the app. Turning on dark mode now disables system theme and your choice is remembered.
Opening a note from a widget always shows the note: If another screen such as Add Reminder was left open in the background, opening a note from a home screen widget on Android could leave you on that screen. The note editor is now shown every time. Setting up a note widget also no longer interferes with the app's launcher shortcuts.
Confirm email banner clears after confirmation: On Android, the "Please confirm your account" banner could stay visible even after you had confirmed your email in the browser. Tapping the banner now checks your account first and starts syncing right away if your email is already confirmed.
Fixed a crash when opening notes and notebook screens: The app could crash when a notes or notebook screen was opened without the navigation details it expected. These screens now open safely.
Readable text in the share sheet: Some text in the share sheet did not pick up the theme color, making it hard to read in certain themes. It now uses the correct color.
